For the last 20 years I've been travelling to Russia every year, to see my parents. I'm their only child. They refuse to move to New Zealand since they are perfectly happy where they are. I've always travelled by Singapore Airlines. it is the most convenient and direct way for me (route Christchurch-Singapore-Moscow).
I hope that the flights will resume soon. In fact, I've already heard rumours among my Russian friends here in New Zealand that they definitely will. We all are waiting.
It's equally horrible to say that your convenience trumps taking a moral stance against war.
There's nothing stopping you from taking the ME3/TK.

Insurance costs, and I'd wager that SQ (and SG customers) are more than a little twitchy given the whole MH episode.
