I travel with a MC (usually Citi / Barclays AA card or my Chase Pres Plus); a Visa - C1 or Chase; and an Amex when going abroad with too many rejections.
Generally I try to keep 3 banks and 3 processors distinct - with C1 Visa, I take a Chase MC
Barclays is CHip and PIN enabled and has saved me at gas stations after hours
