There's a few places around Railway Square that are relatively cheap. The 28 Hotel, Central Studio, Mercure etc. Those are as cheap as you'll find in the CBD that aren't hostel type places. There are some places around Green Square that look pretty cheap. I'm not sure what they're like.
It must be one hell of a breakfast they're slinging out if it's worth that much to you.
