SAN - FRA: Connect in DFW, ORD, or LAX & LHR?
I'll be flying SAN - FRA Jan 28, returning Feb 5. I have basically three choices in connections: SAN-ORD-FRA, SAN-DFW-FRA, or SAN-LAX-LHR-FRA. I'll be ticketed in J and likely will use an eVIP to upgrade to F.
I'm really, really, really not a morning person. I detest trying to make early flights.
The DFW connection is an early flight both outbound and returning (8 AM out of SAN, 10 AM out of FRA). So I'd like to avoid it.
The ORD connection is a great time both ways: noon out of SAN, 2 PM out of FRA. However, I'm scared of connecting in ORD because of its reputation for late flights and delays, and also the potential for bad weather in late January and early February. I'm concerned that I could end up getting stuck there either way. On the outbound, the risk is I'd be late for the start of my meetings, and on the return I'd just be unhappy.
The LAX & LHR double connection requires an extra connection, and I'd not arrive in FRA until the evening, versus the morning with the ORD or DFW connections.
Right now I'm leaning towards doing LAX & LHR on the outbound, and ORD on the return.
Any AAdvice?
