The extremely large and dense developments with multiple towers and commercial podiums attached pretty much scream mall to me.
If you want AEON / Izumi / 7 and I malls just rent a car and go out to the suburbs and exurbs. Also many department stores have closed giant branches. The buildings are either torn down or repurposed into malls. That is not even mentioning the off-price malls , and big box stores that are often concentrated in a mall like area.
Isn't there a AEON mall out in Narita with bus service to the airport ?
