My last few personal recon calls were about 25-28 months ago, called 888-609-7805 (“recon”) about 2 cards and 800-527-7419 (“lending department”, website “if you need assistance #” under “pending review” message) about 1 card. I always preface a recon conversation with “I think I know the reason for the pending review (or decline), I’m hoping to speak with someone who can review my application and hopefully make an approval, maybe a credit analyst, have I reached the correct department?” which has 100% separated the wheat from the chaff.
I’m a strong advocate of HUCA, I don’t believe that a few calls influence Chase’s decisions. 2 of my last 3 Chase personal approvals involved multiple (some quite lengthy) recon calls (mainly due to difficulties of speaking with a credit analyst in late 2020 or early 2021 during the height of COVID).
Oh, I totally didn't take it that way! No worries. I chose the (888) 270-2127 number because it was consistently listed across the web as the "recon" number. It's hard to know what exactly is the most up to date and what isn't.
Anyway, I just got the email saying the card was approved, $20.5k limit. I'm not exactly sure why it took this long, or what was going on behind the scenes with Chase, but regardless I am glad to have gotten the good news.
