Another one way rental this week, this time from CLT to RDU once again with a Standard car reservation. It was just me and an overnight bag.
I was assigned a Ford Expedition. This is typical of one ways between these airports: dump the large SUV on the one way people. The swap options in the app ranged from disappointing to perplexing. The first option was a Ford Transit cargo van (?) along with a few other seven passenger SUVs. The only sedan I could get was a 21 VW Passsat with 57,000 miles. It was awful, the front sensor was broken so the cruise control didn't work, it smelled like smoke, and drove awfully. When I returned it at RDU the return agent didn't care either.
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth over free status but Avis really disappoints me compared to Hertz and National.
