They were quite advanced -- no ramrod needed! All that matters is that you can reload as fast or preferably faster than the other guy.
Are you forgetting that, at one point, I had a large collection of WWI and WWII weapons? I still have an 03-A3, along with several M1 Carbines and an IHC M1 Garand, although I opted not to keep any of the Mausers, Enfields, or Nagants.
