Thanks. I tried Firefox just now and it seemed to work, I wasn't sure if it was the browser or the fact it's a few hours later. The fare was $100 more but oh well. Got through the first three seat selection screens, then on the last one it suddenly kicked me out. I was back to the search page. I searched again, selected the flights, and lo, back to the original problem of getting an error message between confirming my name and selecting my seats.
