Does Hertz Gold status matter in Mexico? I tried to link my reservation in CUN with my Hertz account (USA), but the number comes back as invalid. The have an entirely different website, and I could not find anything on the main HZ website that makes any reference to rentals in Mexico. It seems like they are two completely separate entities who only share a name and a logo. I booked it via AeroMexico, as they gave me a very substantial discount.

I have also read many horror stories about purchasing insurance. I know Hertz MX includes basic liability, but what level of insurance is advisable for rentals in Mexico? I have the add-on premium insurance from AMEX, but it seems like that is fairly useless in that country.
