You will clear US immigration and customs controls at the pre-clearance facility at YVR, so you will arrive at LAX as a domestic passenger. Air Canada is located at T6, which is connected in the secured area on the concourse level to T7, the United terminal. It should not take more than five minutes to walk from T6 to T7 and you will not need to clear security. I'd be comfortable with that connection.
