After exiting, JA791A has entered XMN on 12/23. Could be for maintenance or reconfiguration.
That leaves only JA787A and JA792A that for sure still have staggered J. They have been flying NRT-LAX-NRT rotations, which requires both planes.
If indeed the remaining 77Ws are going in for reconfiguration, my unfounded hypothesis is that ANA introducing a NEW configuration with fewer J seats and larger Y cabin to specifically serve NRT routes. That could explain why JA790A has seen so little usage since exiting XMN. The 9 frames with 212 configuration are sufficient to serve all the HND routes plus NRT-ORD.
Looks like no one has provided an update since this post but I just flew JA790A and it does not have the new config.
