Do u see the J space on .com? If yes, book it (use no aadv number)and call AA. If you don’t see the J space on .com, probably isn’t available to AA (lots of cases of this!). As another reply suggested, if it is available in J on .com, it may be part of a married segment issue. But for just changing the class of service when u were forced to downgrade, AA should be able to work with the help desk and get this booked correctly

Nowadays, 90% of the time, they don't see it. Case in point: I have an international itin where the long haul is in business class, but a short haul segment is in economy. I want to change the economy segment to business class (partner operated), which AA.com, CX.com and BA.com all show saver business class award. Tweeted and called AA to change to that, all don't see the space. Asked them to use direct connect, still no. The fact that it's available on at least 3 oneworld partner website suggests it's real. In a previous such case, I booked the segment by itself to prove it is real award space, but of course AA can't merge it with my existing itin, but it did prove the discrepancy is real.

Any suggestions for adding this J segment to my booking?
