Aloft Montevideo Hotel, Uruguay [Master Thread]

Overall At the time of this writing this is the only Bonvoy property in Montevideo and the second property in all of Uruguay. The other property is the Sheraton in Colonia.Overall I can recommend this hotel for its location and higher than brand standards amenities and food. Location The hotel is NOT located near the old town, so is inconvenient if that is your goal. However, it is located in a nice area near the sea with its own local infrastructure - a shopping center, lots of restaurants and cafes, etc.To walk to the old town takes about one hour if you walk along the shore. An Uber takes perhaps 12 minutes and costs 6-8 USD.The hotel is also located on the way to the airport from the old town, so it is slightly more convenient on arrival and departure days. Dining I have stayed at many Aloft and Moxy hotels and view them as being rather similar. This hotel has a much better breakfast selection than standard. The wxyz bar had a friendly bartender and a DJ playing music. The cocktails we had were tasty. Check In The check in service was friendly and fast. It always takes a bit longer in countries where they need to scan your passport. We had booked a standard room on cash and points and were upgraded as Ambassador to a high-floor, corner room. I did not look if there are higher upgrade options available. I do not expect good upgrades at Aloft hotels since they normally do not have suite options.I was offered points as an amenity. I was told breakfast was included due to my Ambassador status. We were also given one free drink coupon per person for the bar. You could use it for beer, wine, or cocktails (probably also for soft drinks). Room The room is very much Aloft standard. The bed was comfortable. The room was reasonably insulted from the hallway.A couple of notes about the room:1. We could not find the air conditioner controls. They were fairly well hidden to the far right of the headboard of th bed. Once that was identified we were able to get the room to a temperature we found reasonable.2. The room has lots of international outlets. No need for plug adapters here- Chilean, Argentinian, European and American plugs should all find a home here.Generally I found the room color scheme to be pleasantThe shower had multi-use shampoo/conditioner and shower gel.The desk is comfortable to sit at and has an expansive view. The closet should be big enough to hang up your thingsThere is a coffee machine in the closet, which I always find a bit strange - adding water into a closet just seems like asking for damage. The door to the toilet and shower is a sliding door. Gym There is a gym on the second floor. Pool There is a pool on the 14th floor.
