I'd like to read actual, published housekeeping standards by brand, instead of just a high-level comment by Marriott CEO Anthony Capuano during an investor call.
I'm old enough to remember when housekeepers at Marriott Hotels changed the bedsheets every day. Then that became every three days at Marriott Hotels (while remaining every day at Ritz-Carlton).
When we stay at a timeshare, I don't mind making the bed and reusing towels for a few days. That's fine at a "home away from home," and that's what I'm used to.
When we stay at a traditional hotel, it's great to leave the room for the day in the morning with the bed unmade and the towels thrown in shower, and then to return to a nicely cleaned room.
One thing to remember -- and for Marriott International to recognize -- is that hotels are in a competitive business. Does a Fairfield Inn really want a reputation of being inferior to competing brands at the same Interstate exit -- especially when that Fairfield Inn often charges the highest room rate "because it's a Marriott"?
