Have you checked your flight isn't from Gate 14 at EWR? That would appear to explain a lot of the above scenario!
It did get me wondering whether I had made a monumental error (sweaty palms time) but it's deffo AA100 from JFK to LHR.
The AA app is directing me to gate 14 in terminal 4 and no-one knows why.
