I was automatically rebooked to fly AMS - ATL (DL73) and ATL - MSP (DL 2654) that departed ~2 hours sooner and arrived in MSP ~5 hours after our originally scheduled flight.
While in ATL, I reached out to Delta to ask the reason for the cancellation and they said it was mechanical. I asked them if I'm eligible for EC 261, the representative said "maybe" and provided information to me on how to file for EU 261. Per my understanding of EC 261, we would be eligible for EUR 600 / passenger. With Delta's proactiveness, I don't think I will file for EC 261 unless anyone here feels I should.
What is the expiration of the credit - and would you prefer the credit to the possible €600?
Interesting question whether they would claw back the credit of they paid you the EC 261 funds.
