I called them last night and asked them what the terms were of the free cancellation and they said that if I call them, I can get a 100% refund to my original payment form (no vouchers, or penalties) all the way up to 24 hours before flight time. But all the comments definitely make me nervous, so we will see. I’ve got quite a few months to find a better option. If not, I might give it a try because at least they can be canceled or changed.

Hopefully He won't need to be involved, but as mentioned previously in post 3, it's only a full refund if done online - or TAP's IT doesn't process the cancellation (which isn't unusual). There may be a admin fee if you call to cancel, but they will waive it if you can show you did try to do it online.
