There are more options for lodging and meals in Hiroshima. From Hiroshima, it is about an hour to Miyajima and most tourists stay at Hiroshima rather than stay at Miyajima. But same time there is nothing wrong with staying at Miyajima.

Your plan indicates Fukuoka, Kyoto/Osaka/Nara and Tokyo. Those are all large cities. Staying at Miyajima will give non-city setting of Japan. Some lodging at Miyajima with English websites are:
