Hard and soft product - it's a no brainier to fly JL. The Sky suite is a generally excellent product (and spacious). The majority of AA's 788s have the terrible back and forth concept D seats.

Regarding loyalty point earnings, that entirely depends on how much the ticket costs on AA and what fare bucket the JL ticket books into.

I wouldn't pay more to fly AA.
