Need some insight on booking a DFW-Tokyo trip for my son, since neither of us travels internationally a great deal. He's Platinum Pro and traveling DFW-Tokyo in business class in May as part of a longer trip. Options out of DFW are JL 11, (a 777-300), or AA 175, as a JL codeshare (a 787-8). Both flights are the same price, although the AA flight is more than $1000 more expensive under the AA code than as a JL codeshare.

I'd appreciate any insight as to the difference of the hard and soft products on the two, as well as AA Loyalty Point earning differences.
