I pointed out that wasn’t my understanding of the OneWorld lounge access rules or what the sign by the door actually said. The staff member was quite insistent and said I had to be flying to London with BA, Doha with Qatar or Tokyo with JAL to use this lounge. I asked how that was consistent with OneWorld rules. He maintained his position then in a bit of a huff said he’d have to show me the rules. He produced a document which he proceeded to read. I can but assume that the document (which he went back and forward in) didn’t support this position because after about five minutes he asked to see my boarding pass again, and scanned it. He then asked for my BA Gold Card (first time I’ve been asked for that in years!) then let me in. He never showed me his document!
Did he have a point, or was he just wrong to try to refuse me access? I’m now in the BA lounge, which is beautifully quiet between BA flights!
He was wrong. I have been on transcon SFO to JFK and used the lounge. However, it's not that well known to the staff, but it should be!
