Amex UK Platinum Travel Insurance

Hi All,

I'm a bit confused by the Amex Platinum travel insurance policy. Just for information, I have the Amex platinum and Amex BA Premium card. Based in London, I do fly BA quite a bit, and therefore it makes a lot more sense to use the Amex BA Premium to purchase the flights due to 3x more points when purchasing using that card.

As I understand, the Amex Platinum Travel Insurance covers you even if you don't use it - is this correct? I just called AXA Insurance (through Amex) and I was told if I do use any of the Amex cards I have, I would be covered, however, it would be better to use the Platinum because if I had to claim, I would definitely be covered. The agent I spoke to clearly wasn't sure and that's why I'm confused. What are the rules?

The agent did say that the medical cover is there when travelling no matter what and they were sure about this. But I was also asking about devices being stolen as an example or flight delays/cancellations etc.
