I often travel to London from Toronto. I prefer getting a later flight. By the time a meal is served, it’s already 11pm so possible to get at few hours sleep ahead of arrival. Still feel tired but less of the day to go until nighttime. I struggle arriving too early since it’s a long time until nighttime!
Forgot to mention, if you have access and flying into Heathrow, the arrivals lounge in Terminal 2 is fantastic to refresh and then continue on your journey!
