Not sure whether to get a hotel in the city so that I can sightsee a bit earlier in the morning (only got a small and light backpack, so no luggage).
I would avoid staying at a hotel out by the GOT airport in such a situation. I would land myself at the Clarion Post as I typically do.
Flygbussarna.se have a bus every 20 minutes until 11:50pm, and then something like a 12:20am and 1:10am bus. It takes under 40 minutes to get to the central train station in Gothenburg, and then the next day you can leisurely wander around Gothenburg.
