They tried to downgrade a leg of my business class award from MAN x AUH - MEL. A phone agent told me the day before that I had NOT been downgraded, and the gate supervisor tried to tell me that "according to our records" you HAVE accepted it. After a bit of to-ing & fro-ing they finally re-ticketed me & my wife on the following day, with an overnight stay (paid for by EY) in AUH and a flight AUH-MEL the following day. They gave us vouchers for GBP520 each and told us to contact the call centre to have these paid to our bank account after we were at home, so they initiated everything. I presume the compensation was due to the UK version of EU261.
I overheard part of a conversation between the supervisor & I presume someone from Abu Dhabi that we would get US$300 each if we accepted the downgrade, but fortunately for her, she didn't offer this to us.
