I am flying on UA from Syd to LAX, arriving at 6.10am. Now I want to change my final destination to be SJD. I made the booking through Virgin Australia and they won't update my flight because they don't offer SJD. I need to book a separate LAX to SJD flight, which leaves at 8:25 am.

Is this doable? What are my chances of making that flight? If my luggage is checked in all the way, that should help, right?
