And it clearly shows in a lot of pictures that it is in dire need for some refurbishment (e.g. the tartan carpet in the bar is forgiving due to it's dark pattern but I know how many spilt drinks it is hiding).
This could be an amazing place again if they'd only invest some money into it.
The renovation of the Cannes’ Carlton by Tristan Auer is very elegant.
But do all hotels have to look the same?
And what is trendy may be out of fashion in a few years, whereas the style of the Carlton before the renovation, like that of the Amstel, is timeless.
I hope that if there is a renovation of the Amstel hotel, it will keep its current charm.
