Overall, this is a solid but uninspired option in a rather mid-level section of Downtown Abu Dhabi. If you are looking for beige and inoffensive lodgings, you will find them here. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite prior to arrival in app
- The suite is large with a long living room, 1.5 baths, a small wetbar area, and plenty of furniture
- The furniture was comfortable and shockingly clean under the cushions
- The bed was decent - somewhat firm mattress, plush pillows, thin yet somehow heavy covers - I slept fine
- Shower pressure was pretty good
- Requisite fruit bowl of the Middle East delivered
- Offered late checkout, which I did not need
- Lounge offering in the evening had very nice service - multiple folks came up to talk, bar cart with bartender, lots of choices - I didn't try much as I wasn't very hungry, but the tortilla chips were good
- Breakfast is in the restaurant (no lounge breakfast) and was decent - good pancakes and good coffee
- Service was friendly though more hands-off than some other properties in the Middle East (they seemed a little surprised when I asked for a taxi, but they did run into the street to get one, so that's good)
Cons:
- No Internet TV and advertised Chromecast functionality led to a black screen
- Bathroom was too big with lots of empty space and was always very cold
- Only two rather old towels provided
- Eggs choices at breakfast would not substitute salmon for turkey ham on the offered eggs Benedict, so I just went with a plain cheese omelet vs arguing
- No soap dish in the main bathroom - had to take the one from the powder room
- One elevator of 4 out of service, so waits could be a bit lengthy
- Creepy rollaway bed in my room upon arrival
I'd return for the right price, but the STR on the Corniche wasn't much more expensive than this, so...
