Is it haute cuisine? No. Is it what you’d expect in an authentic Japanese restaurant? No. But, I liked it enough to order it on both my visits a couple of weeks ago and, I’d probably order it again. However, I do miss the duck breast.

Not taking you to task here, but char siu is Chinese. At a Japanese restaurant, you get chashu.
That said, I don't think picture looks very much like either char siu or chashu.
