I'm looking for something new, and was hoping TK would be it.
For my needs TK is the best option to get myself *G. I also use UA to get my TK status, and I love getting award tickets from UAMP. Once I qualified E within a year the next year I can fly any *A carrier and bank the points to UA (as long as it's not 016 stock).
I thought DL really geared up their premium products with lounges that are on par with Polaris/AA Flagship lounges and the hardware on board too. I know from FT that Delta miles have been called Delta Peso for a long time.
The thing is if you are looking for Western FFPs for *A, UA is actually pretty neat. AA is not bad either and OW doesn't have the 0+1=0 stupid bag rule. However, I will need to pay a lot more to get OWS. I don't like LH because of their insane YQ and redemption rates, SK is hopeless even though my closes airport is their main hub. The problem with Asian FFP is that they often have credit card to their local markets which means the programmes taking those into account - and when a lot of people have boatloads of miles it's more difficult to redeem award flights.
So what's left? AFKL? Again it's difficult to make ST G, unless there are sweet spots I haven't seen.
I'm still SK EBG and they really don't give a $h!t to their elites - they stranded me at YYZ and it took me 6h calling Denmark to just to be able to speak to someone. My UA miles got my home 5 days later.
I think I have lived in Scandinavia enough to be able to handle $h!tty services as it's like that every day and the government is robbing you and you have very little consumer right - that sounds like your dealing with TK.
I have heard enough people lying about things - not just TK and in Turkiye but in other countries (not airline/airport) too, and I have experienced that very much in Turkiye too. The very first time when I was trying TK transit hotel, they kept lying to me that they were trying to find me a nicer hotel because I was flying business class. I know the fact that I was the only C pax they were hoping to bundle a few more pax so they chose to wait. I waited 2 hours in total and then the hotel desk guy came (I guess the last flight had arrived and no one showed up) and said they gave me a 5* hotel which wasn't true. It was 3* at most (the Ramada that the Y pax stayed might have been better). I was the only one in the van.
At a boarding gate at IST, I was yelled at by a TK gate agent "This is for business class only". I'm TK E and flying business class and there was a white female in front of me using business class boarding gate and she was not even in C (there were only 6 people in C and I was on the last row). I wrote to TK to tell them that this wasn't acceptable and of course they ignored it - again where in the world would they bother with this? UA would probably throw me 5k UAMP but again that's the US.
The second time I travelled with my husband, we didn't need to wait that long (we were in Y) and were told that we were given a 5 star hotel (again). It really was a 5 stars hotel as it has 5 stars on the logo
But I was able to get a night in the Sheraton when I was using their stopover programme after telling them that there's no kettle in the hotel that was allocated online and that we are TK E.
I'm not particularly loyal to TK but I'm looking at what offers are out there and make use of it as long as it lasts.
