I think its more about the OP has a 33-year rental history, probably spent tens of thousands of dollars with Hertz, and they suspend his account over probably some ~$10 unpaid toll charge that they attempted to collect from him through
onesnail mail letter, and then, without informing him in any meaningful way, put him on the DNR and that means he has to go through hoops on a Sunday night trip. I think OP sees it as a little penny-wise, pound foolish and wants to try other options that may not take the same approach with his steady business.
