I’m about to book a flight with cash. It’s in business class and labeled as a ‘Value’ fare.

If I need to cancel, how painful is it to get a refund? Does anyone have experience they can share?

According to etihad.com, when booking a ‘value’ business class fare, they charge $900 for refund eligibility.

$900 seems reasonable to me given the price of the ticket, but I’m curious if they will actually issue the refund (minus the $900) to my original form of payment, or if they play games and try to give you a voucher. Also, is it like pulling teeth to get a refund issued?

Any experience or advice is appreciated.
