Sometimes, you have to plan a lounge visit. If you're looking to visit soon, and 10/10 current visits have experienced the same trends, chances are, waiting for Labor Day isn't necessary to get a feel. Maybe the trends will indeed change over time as more people finding about the fee at the door, will reconsider in the future.
