I don't know your dates and haven't looked at availability in a while, but if you look on the Hilton site and find that the difference in cash rate is less than the suggested upgrade price, you would probably be successful in emailing the hotel and asking to pay just that difference instead of what they offered.
i.e. if a WV is $800 over your dates and a SWV is $850, you would propose paying $50/night to upgrade.
