Hi there, I'm thinking of booking a one way HKG-SIN-SYD on SQ J as a backup while waiting for a direct flight to open up on Cathay Pacific. Since my plans are still uncertain, I was thinking of booking the flexible reward so I can do free cancellation. My question is, if I end up keeping the SQ flight, can I downgrade later from flexible reward (77.5k) to lowest reward (60k) and get refunded the point difference? I've read some posts about this but it seems too good to be true and I don't fully understand how this works. Thanks!
