Reason 2) First time to Egypt, fully unfamiliar with the culture. So I found it on the safe side to involve a travel agency this time.
Plus there was a misunderstanding in the beginning with the agent that the bookings would count into my Honors account.
I contacted all five Hilton affiliated hotels in advance, four attached my Honors number to the booking. Thus those bookings appeared in my account. I even got upgrades but also learnt that my bookings will not earn points.
The first stay is over, the stay shows in my account. However, no stay credits and zero points so far. I did have some spending in the hotel and did contact Diamond Desk by email inquiring about any points for this. In the middle of stay two now.
I’m prepared to file this whole experience under “lessons learned”. My next extended travelling is already completely organised and booked by myself. All Hilton hotel stays included.
Real 'TA's should give you points/etc. Only OTAs wont. So it is possible your TA was playing games and booked you via an OTA and you paid him/her for it
