second leg is LAX-LHR NZ9834 in Premium Economy O class (this is what's shown on the UA eTicket Itinerary and Receipt sent from UA account),
but when logged in to UA account under my trips to do the upgrade, it says UA923 and R class.
UA and NZ fare class are structured differently and do not map one-to-one
NZ uses U, E, O, A while UA uses O, A, R
When a codeshare is book, the carriers have an agreement on how the operating carrier will convert the codeshare fareclass.
For UA, as the operating carrier, it bases it upgrades on UA fare class, not NZ's fare class..
As mentioned earlier, NZ O maps to UA R, those are both discount PremiumEconomy fare classes.
