I've been going back and forth between the Sheraton Porto and some Hilton properties. While I don't have top tier Hilton status, I do have access to their Friends and Family rate through my family. Lo and behold, when checking the Marriott site today, a new Renaissance property popped up. I don't know Porto at all, so have no idea if this is a good neighborhood for sight-seeing, dining, etc. But it certainly looks a bit closer to the central part of the city and the train stations than the Sheraton. It appears there is no lounge, but the rate was actually much less than the Sheraton (although higher than the F&F rate I could get at the Hilton - although not the Se Cathedral property. )
Here's the link to the Renaissance:

Any thoughts on this location? We will be in Porto for 5 nights, planning on doing day trips twice most likely via train.
