According to the FCO website's Roma Self Connect page, if I have my boarding pass already, the connection seems a lot easier, just going through security and passport control, but if I don't have my boarding pass, I have to almost start over from scratch and check-in at a physical desk, which will obviously take longer.
I know ITA is relatively new, but does anyone have recent experience with getting their boarding pass on the app? Are there scenarios where we would not get our boarding passes online?
Ordinarily I would not care, but the flight we are taking into Rome is notoriously late, and we only have about a 90 minute window for a Milan flight, so every minute will count.
Thank you!
Yes, the app can produce a boarding pass to your phone wallet (I have only used Apple Wallet) It has also sent a boarding pass to my camera roll before. On ITA you can use online check-in for most routes 48 hours prior to departure (so you should be able to obtain your boarding passes and can print them out if you'd like). It has been a seamless check-in process every time I have used the app/website. FCO also has been smooth sailing for me, and there is proper signage for transit passengers - I have not transited FCO before but have seen many signs for transit passengers. I have also seen passport control exits decant into the Schengen area - which I presume this is the transit passenger passport control, as when FCO has been my final destination and I have cleared passport control, we were downstairs. I assume you would be able to follow the transit signs if you had your boarding pass with you. Sorry I have not had a transit experience at FCO, but hopefully this information can help. Let me know if you have any further questions, and have a good trip!
