We decided to go for it (at least on the outgoing flight) and so I clicked the "Upgrade from $551" option, picked the outgoing path, and clicked "Go to Payment". At this point, it just spits out an error telling us to call Air Canada Reservations.

We have called them three times and we have been told:
  1. "Sure I can book that for you... {puts me on hold for 45 minutes} ...I'm sorry, I cannot help you with that as the price has gone up."
  2. "I can't do upgrades from my end - you have to do it yourself."
  3. "I'm sorry you're having this problem; I can see the offer but when I try to put it through it says "waitlist" and won't issue anything."
On the third call the customer support rep was more helpful than the first two, and while she wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor, she did (when pressed) tell me that we could e-mail Air Canada (although, she also admitted that it would probably take them a little while to get back to us).

Is there any magic number to call at Air Canada to get someone who can help us? Or magic words to say that would get us some response other than "I can't see it, sorry". Just really frustrated with the system right now - we were excited about our upgrade and to keep having it tell us that it's possible but then not process it is very disheartening.

Thanks for any assistance you might be able to provide!
What flight are you on? I feel there may be one seat at that price and you want 3 and that's why the system is failing but it's more of a guess without more information.

Also what you are trying to do is called "upfare" ... if you use the term "upgrade" with a customer service rep they will most likely think you want to use credits to upgrade (as an elite) or bid for an upgrade.
