Even before 1/2 through this ordeal, I had already vowed to never subject myself to this again. And, why should I? Paris or London's only 60 minutes away, and just return Stateside from there.
To each his/her own, obviously, and I appreciate that Preclearance can be a total pain given the multiple screenings, etc. That said, connecting through CDG, LHR, AMS, etc. isn't just about the length of the flight, but also the additional connection time, higher risk of IRROPS, larger chance of a checked bag going MIA (experienced that more times than I care to count at both AMS and CDG), etc.
Probably a matter of personal preference on which one constitutes more of a headache, honestly.
