Yeah that does seem to be the case, I dont mind a Mustang, it was ok to drive and comfortable, am sure would be fine with almost everywhere im going, except maybe Yellowstone?
I saw some of those photos of DV, mad! I always get the LDW and SLI or whatever they call it so am covered just in case!
Nicest car i've driven was a Ford Taurus, no problem and was really comfortable, lots of extras & just cruised along wherever i went...

The Mustang convertible seems to be the default for a lot of rental car companies in LAS*. If you talk to a rental car company employee and say you’re doing the National Parks trip, they’ll often know what you’re talking about and find you a more suitable long distance ride.
*Last year when flooding did a lot of damage to Death Valley NP, tv news was showing damage to one of the parking lots where basically an entire row of obvious rental Mustangs convertibles had taken enough damage to be declared totaled. The perfesser and I just looked at each other and went ‘yep, I hope they all have good supplemental rental insurance to cover that.’
