Does DL use that pre-clearance thing for their flights from DUB into, say, JFK? While this pre-clear thing sounds great in principle, it was absolutely utterly miserable in practice. Long lines, going through security 3 times, took off my shoes/belt, removed my laptop twice, and not something I'd ever go through again.
ALL flights from Shannon or Dublin to the USA go through PreClearance. This is why they advise that you actually arrive at the airport 3 hours earlier to give yourself time to go through the full process.
