Thanks. Meanwhile if I book the 'Multiple Flights' option through Expedia (mutliple OW flights on a single booking) I should be able to a) check-in a bag all the way through to BOG and b) get Boarding passes for both legs.
This is according to the OW web site at least "Wherever possible, a passenger travelling on a single ticket or booking will be checked through to the final destination, along with their baggage".
So some level of safety (more than the two separate BA bookings at least).
