Sharing a quick reference point here. I called CX today and they have been able to assign my preferred seats . Possibly something they can do nearer to departure as I fly in 2 days. When I tried after booking I didn't have any success with either AY or CX (Y, no status). So worth trying nearer to OLCI opening!
