Ah okay. Yea, I've done it with CX in the past, so I *thought* it would still work with JAL, though I haven't see any recent DPs.

If the website doesn't allow it, does anyone think a supervisor or the partner desk would be able to somehow pull this off? Or should I just chalk it up as a loss since they use the same UI (?) on their end? While disappointing, nbd, since a free stopover on a 1 way award is still a nice benefit And, I don't necessarily want to spend lots of time HUCA.
I doubt you are going to convince an agent to add a Hawaii segment to a JAL trip when their system says no. The only way I could envision convincing them is if you already had a trip booked with a stopover continuing to Hawaii. For example, if you had TYO-(AA)-LAX-(stopover)-LAX-(AS)-HNL, which you can book online today, you might be able to convince them that since the routing was valid, since their system booked it, that you should be able to swap out the TYO-LAX on AA to a TYO-LAX on JL (given award availability on JL). The system would still reject it but you've got more ammunition to convince them that it is a system bug and they should override it manually. So long as they don't have an explicit memo in front of them saying only JL is not allowed and you have a trip booked with that stopover I think you might be able to convince a supervisor to override it manually.
