After 2 years of delay my in-laws finally got their US B2 visa for 10 years.
They have two daughters, one in US and one in Canada and are finally happy to meet them in the new countries their daughters have settled in. With pandemic and them being retired and all, they really wanna spend maximum time with us as possible while the weather is nice for them.
The original plan was:- Book US flights from March to November , BOM to DFW.
- And in between either a flight or road trip to Canada and stay there for 3 months or so.
They will likely do a west coast trip and head into Canada to visit their other daughter for around 3 months in YVR, likely around late June by road.
In Canada the other daughter will show them around in Canada and take them to visit more family in Toronto and they plan on entering the US back from Toronto.
The journey into and out of Canada will likely by road. With the Canadian daughter driving down to pick them up from Seattle. (But for getting an exit stamp we are debating getting a flight ticket.)
We almost booked ticket yesterday but one of our friends got us aware of this rule here: CBP Article-751 (sorry cannot post links as a new member) but it only mentions when re-entering US within 30 days of leaving while within the allowed entry time in USA.
But they plan on visiting and enjoying Canda for at least 3 or so months.
- Any help on figuring out on what rules apply when visiting Canada from US for more than 30 days?
- Will the re-entry to US count as a new admission if we enter back after 2-3 months ?
- If the re-entry into US will be a new admission, will having a written itinerary laying out brief travel dates help as they are not that good with English during the first initial entry.
- Or should we just ask them to tell CBP that they intend to stay for 3 months only and get an exit date for June ?
