I recently completed an one night stay at the EDITION in Tokyo (Toranomon) and have to agree with everyone that the hotel is lacking in omotenashi. This was my first stay at an EDITION and I was completely underwhelmed by the experience even though I knew that my Ambassador status would not get me anything except the guaranteed 4pm checkout. I was not offered a Terrace or Suite despite a colleague with only Platinum status receiving a Terrace upgrade over the same dates. They did however move me to a Tower facing room which was lovely to admire at all hours of the day and night.

I didn’t dine at the hotel but the restaurants and bars looked lovely in the lobby area with all the greenery and the outdoor terrace as well. I don’t think I would be able to justify staying at an EDITION in the future when I receive better service and recognition at St. Regis and the Ritz.
