Got an award Biz Class seat today on Air NZ at late notice which amazed me, seeing what travel loads are like OZ-NZ in this period, so NZ for NYE it is. ^

Any FT'ers living or vacationing there in that period and want to catch up? Will grab a rental for a week.

Will be flying in and out of AKL.

Spent NYE a couple years back up in Russell on the Bay Of Islands which has a lot of stuff going on there. Every cop in NZ seems to be stationed there on NYE. Got breathalysed 4 times in the one evening. Passed 3, failed 1, but that was overturned on a more accurate machine. Phew. Is the DUI level still .08 or did they drop it since, as they were working towards IIRC?

Have not booked anything yet, but if any locals have suggestions for other cities where things happen, please chime in. (Preferably not in AKL though - prefer to be in the country somewhere.)
